FARMINGTON – Pitcher Sam Dolloff smacked home the game-winning run with a double in the sixth inning to lift Oxford Hills to a 3-1 win over Mt. Blue in softball action Tuesday.

Megan Gager and Mindy Rugg each hit doubles for the Vikings (12-1).

The Cougars (2-10) lone run was tallied with a homer in the fifth inning by Ashley Giucher.

Rangeley 9, Valley 4

RANGELEY – Emily George belted out three hits, including an RBI triple, to lead Rangeley to a 9-4 victory over Valley in a EWC softball matchup Tuesday.

Ashley Quimby and Krista Jamison chipped in for the Lakers (3-3) with two hits apiece. Angela White picked up the mound win despite her nine walks.

The Cavaliers (4-6) were paced by Alicia Baker with two hits on the day. Avis Bergeron walked 10 on the mound and was tagged with the loss.

Lewiston 3, Gardiner 1

GARDINER – Katie Cobb belted out a double and an RBI triple and scored a run as Lewiston topped Gardiner 3-1 in KVAC softball Tuesday afternoon.

Brittany Dubuc smacked a two-run double in the fifth to score insurance runs the Devils (8-5) needed to secure the win. Melissa Lacroix also hit a double.

The Tigers (7-6) took advantage of an error in the first inning to score their lone run before Lewiston settled down and posted the win.

Telstar sweeps

BETHEL – Jillian Kimball struck out 11 batters in the first game, while Jessie Farrington also struck out 11 batters in the nightcap, as Telstar defeated both Hall-Dale and Wiscasset each by a score of 12-0 in a softball doubleheader Tuesday.

Kimball gave up only one hit and didn’t walk any en route to her fifth win of the season. She led the team offensively as well, smacking a two-run double and hitting a triple for the Rebels (12-0). Josie Reiss contributed two hits.

In Game 2, Kimball provided an RBI triple and an RBI double, while Farrington chipped in with an RBI double. Liz Rosenberg and Abby Hutchins each hit triples, while Stephanie Tripp had two hits and two RBIs.

Brunswick 7, Leavitt 1

TURNER – Whitney Thurlow belted a pair of RBI doubles to lead Brunswick to a 7-1 victory over Leavitt in softball action Tuesday.

Emily Pollack chipped in for the Dragons (11-2) with a double, while Jess Timmereck picked up the mound win. Brittany Gurney handled pitching duties for the Hornets (5-8).

Wells 4, Fryeburg 1

FRYEBURG – Hannah Knight paved the way, leading Wells to a 4-1 win over Fryeburg with five Ks on the mound and three hits, including a triple in what proved to be a very defensively balanced contest.

Jessie Araujo scored on an error to push the score and take the lead to 2-1 in the fifth inning.

Mountain Valley 15, Carrabec 1

RUMFORD – Alayna Waite hurled five innings of two-hit softball Tuesday and received strong support at the plate as Mountain Valley rolled over Carrabec 15-1 in a MVC matchup Tuesday.

Chelsea Patterson, Christie Folsom and Courtney Hill belted out two hits each for the Falcons (4-7) in a well-balanced attack.

Emily Warmer handled pitching duties for the Cobras (1-9) and was tagged with the loss.

Monmouth 10, Madison 0

MONMOUTH – Brittany Hilton hurled a three-hit game Tuesday as Monmouth shutout Madison 10-0 in MVC softball action.

Jenn Lola and Kristin Cotton led the mighty Mustangs (10-1) with two hits apiece. Lola smacked a pair of doubles while Cotton belted an RBI double and a single.

The Bulldogs (7-4) were paced by Amanda Costa who belted out a double. Ashley Marandola handled pitching duties and was tagged with the loss.

Dirigo 6, Mt. Abram 5

DIXFIELD – Dani Thompkins scored the winning run on a wild pitch to lift Dirigo to a 6-5 win over Mt. Abram in softball action Tuesday.

Abby Fenstermacher came home on an infield grounder by Michelle Holmquist to tie the game. Katie Hutchinson smacked a double and struck out seven batters to capture the win for the Cougars (11-2) on the mound.

Lacrosse

Lincoln 10, Mountain Valley 5

RUMFORD – Krristy Hammond scored five goals to lead Lincoln to a 10-5 girls’ lacrosse victory over Mountain Valley.

Moira Bradford and Carly Witham scored two goals apiece for Lincoln (3-7). Angie Child led the Falcons (0-10) with three goals. Jen Hammond and Cassandra Veilleux also scored for Mountain Valley, while Rachel Calden stopped 12 shots.

EL 11, Camden Hills 10

CAMDEN – Liv Welch netted a goal in sudden death overtime to lift Edward Little to a 11-10 victory over Camden Hills in girls’ lacrosse action Tuesday.

Welch led the Red Eddies (3-6) with five goals overall, while Brittany French added four. Beth Esponnette tallied two goals to complete the scoring. JoJo Hughes made 19 saves in net for Edward Little.

Camden was paced by Laura MaCrinnon with four goals, while Fallon Atkinson added two. Single goals by Maggie McGar, Eve Scofield, Behji Luninia and Kate Wood rounded out the final tally. Brittany Meseney turned aside eight shots in net for Camden.
