PORTLAND – The Portland Sea Dogs introduced new ticket packages that combine tickets to Sea Dogs and Red Sox games.
The unique ticket packages will go on sale Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 9 a.m. Tickets for these packages are limited, and will be offered only while supplies last. Purchases will be limited to a maximum of four ticket packages.
Each package includes a reserved seat ticket to four Sea Dogs games and a bleacher ticket to a Red Sox game. The cost per package is $51 for adults and $47 for children (16 and under) and seniors (62 and over). The packages may be ordered by calling 879-9500 or 1-800-936-3647, or by stopping by the Sea Dog ticket office between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
SAD 43 providing busses for fans
RUMFORD – Maine’s SAD 43 will be supplying buses to transport fans to the upcoming Mountain Valley High School basketball tournament games. Today’s bus to the boys’ game will depart from the school’s back parking lot at 3:45 p.m., while Saturday’s bus to the girls’ game will leave at 12:30 p.m.
The buses will not stop until they reach the Cumberland County Civic Center. Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for students. All students below high school age must be accompanied by an adult.
Black Bears top baseball poll
BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Maine baseball team is the preseason favorite to repeat as conference champs this year, according to a vote by the leagues’ head coaches. The Black Bears received six of a possible seven first-place votes and 47 points overall.
Stony Brook University was picked to finish second, garnering one first-place vote in a 38-point total. The University of Vermont was just three points behind Stony Brook with 35 points, with Binghampton fourth (29) and Albany rounding out the top five with 24 points.
Maine won its second America East Championship in four years in a dramatic 11th-inning 6-5 victory over Vermont. The Black Bears continued on to the NCAA Regionals, where they defeated Southern Mississippi 12-2 and were then defeated by Oklahoma 11-10.
