AUBURN – Edward Little made the most of its scoring chances, scoring on one of its two shots as the Red Eddies handed Brunswick its first loss of the season in a 1-0 thriller.

Danielle Paul scored on a scramble inside the box after a corner kick from Olivia Welch 8:08 into the second half.

EL’s defense, led by Welch, Erin Cain, Elizabeth Langelier, and Abigail Downs, stood firm in front of goalie Brittney French to keep the Dragons off the scoreboard, despite a 14-2 margin in shots on goal.

French finished the game with 12 saves for Edward Little (6-2). Lindsay Hammond had a single save in the net for Brunswick (7-1).

Maranacook 7, Lincoln 0

READFIELD – Allison Myer notched four goals to lead Maranacook to a 7-0 pounding of Lincoln.

Myer keyed a six-goal outburst in the first half to put the game away early. Jackie Mrazik dished out a pair of assists to Myer and added two goals of her own, Eryn Neptune tallied a goal and an assist for the Black Bears (7-1).

Defensively, fullbacks Laura St. John and Shannon Bean helped hold Lincoln (3-5) to six shots, giving goalkeepers Melissa Piper and Emily Perkins a quiet night in the Maranacook nets.

Ox. Hills 5, Gardiner 0

GARDINER – Sophomore Kari Pelletier scored a hat trick to lead Oxford Hills to its first win of the season with a 5-0 decision over Gardiner in KVAC girls’ soccer action.

Jenny Pietroski opened up the scoring for the Vikings (1-5-1) just 35 seconds into the contest. Molly Dow pitched in with a goal and two assists.

Center midfielder Katie Frink had an exemplary game for the Tigers (1-6).

Sophomore goalie Samantha Rivers recorded her first shutout for the Vikings with three saves, while Lindsay Thornton collected 12 saves for Gardiner.

Hall-Dale 3, Jay 1

JAY – Katie Frett netted a pair of goals as Hall-Dale edged Jay 3-1 Friday in MVC action.

Frett opened the scoring to give Hall-Dale (5-3) the early lead, but Jay’s Katie Morin fed Julie Nelson for a score with two seconds left in the half to knot the score at 1-1. Katie Bell broke the deadlock early after the break, and Frett notched her second goal to ensure the win.

Brenda Allen stopped five shots for the Tigers (2-6).

Poland 2, G-NG 0

POLAND – Poland recorded its first victory of the season with a 2-0 victory over Gray-New Gloucester.

The Knights (1-6) scored both goals in the first half. Kristen Simpson and Robyn Gauthier recorded the goals, while Mallory Huskins picked up an assist on Gauthier’s tally.

Samantha Bishop was busy in goal for the Patriots (0-8) as she turned back 14 shots, while Dezaray DeBurra made three saves for Poland.
