He wasn’t getting enough playing time for the Lewiston Maineiacs, so Guy Belisle will play every day for a team at the AAA level.

The team announced Monday that Belisle, a 17-year-old drafted rookie, will no longer play with Lewiston.

“It is just for playing time,” said Maineiacs coach Clerm Jodoin. “He will get more playing there.”

Belisle played in 26 games for the Maineiacs, mostly in a fourth-line capacity, and scored two goals and recorded two assists. Belisle is also fifth on the team in hits, according to the team statistics on the league’s Web site, and has 17 penalty minutes.

Mathieu Aubin, who is currently injured, is expected back in late January or early February. Even when Aubin does return to the lineup, though, Jodoin does not anticipate any more roster moves.

“I think we are pretty much stuck where we are for now,” said Jodoin.

In the last week, Lewiston cut Michael Lafleur and traded Travis Mealy, both defensemen, while adding Jonathan Cameron (call-up) and Sebastien Piche (trade) to the blue line. Piche, acquired from Rouyn-Noranda in a trade, may arrive in town by the end of the week.

On Tuesday, the team is in Quebec to face the Remparts, and will return to action at the Colisee on Friday for a rematch with Quebec.
