RANGELEY – Tyler Philbrick fanned 13 batters to post his first win on the mound and the victory for Rangeley 9-1 over Averill in the pouring rain.
The Lakers (3-8) broke open the contest in the second inning when they scored five of their nine runs. Rangeley scored twice in the fifth inning on passed balls.
Paul Cerminara smashed a two-run triple, while David Raymond hit an RBI double. Kent Madeira and Cooper Archard each hit two singles.
Girls’ lacrosse
Mtn. Valley 15, Lincoln 4
RUMFORD – Jessica Allen netted six goals and added an assist to lead Mountain Valley to a 15-4 romp over Lincoln Academy in girls’ lacrosse action Monday.
Sam Johnson chipped in for the Falcons (6-8) with three goals and two assists, while Ashley Arsenault and Gail Manson tallied two apiece. Jen Arsenault and Melissa Lyons also scored goals.
Stephanie Degroon needed only three saves to notch the win.
Christie Hammond netted all four goals for the Eagles (0-12), while Liz Barclay turned away 14 shots in net.
