LEWISTON – Drew Makenna went 4-for-4 with two doubles as Bates College topped the University of Maine at Farmington 10-6 in baseball action Tuesday.
Nate Maxwell had two hits and two RBI while Adam Worral also had two with three runs scored for the Bobcats (5-2).
UMF’s Zachary Reed went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored and John Rutkiewicz had three hits for the Beavers (0-3).
Colby 5, Husson 3
BANGOR – Colby College’s Eric Roy had three hits and scored two runs as the White Mules beat Husson College 5-3 in a baseball matchup Tuesday. Robert Rosenbaum gave up two runs in six innings and got the win for the White Mules (3-10).
Husson had eight hits in the game.
Lacrosse
USM 4, Daniel Webster 3
NASHUA, N.H. – The University of Southern Maine’s Matt Butler netted two goals as the Huskies slipped by Daniel Webster 4-3 in a men’s lacrosse Tuesday. Jeff Donovan scored a goal on a pass from Mark St. John. Chris Brookes also pitched in with a goal for Southern Maine (2-1).
Daniel Webster received goals from Nate Cosner, Dan Haley and Steve Smittle. Gabe Berthiaume made 15 saves for the Eagles (0-3).
Endicott 20, UNE 5
BIDDEFORD – Endicott’s Jess Blair and Christine Wilmott netted four goals each as Endicott cruised past the University of New England 20-5 in a women’s lacrosse Tuesday. Katie White also added three goals for Endicott (4-2).
Ruth Ness scored three of UNE’s five goals. Megan Trusselle and Angie Kubicki also scored goals for the Nor’easters (1-3).
Softball
UNE splits
BIDDEFORD – Amber Taylor went 4-for-5 with three runs scored as the University of New England pounded Gordon College 16-8 in Game 1 of a softball matchup Tuesday. Michaela O’Rourke and Michelle Clark each had three hits in the game for UNE (1-2).
Joy Huseland went 2-for-4 and knocked in four RBI for Gordon (6-7).
In Game 2, Laura Doskocil went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and two RBI as Gordon got back at UNE with an 8-0 victory.
Beth Pinkham went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Meaghan Moore also knocked home two runs for Gordon (7-7).
Michaela O’Rourke went 3-for-3 for UNE (1-3).
