LEWISTON – Lewiston Maineiacs head coach Mario Durocher has been named head coach of the all-star Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team that will face a Russian team in the RE/MAX Canada-Russia Challenge next month.
The first game will be held Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Metro Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Game 2 is slated for Monday, Nov. 24, at the Colisee in Rimouski, Quebec.
Assistant coaches are Shawn MacKenzie of the Halifax Mooseheads, Pascal Vincent of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and Donald Dufresne of the Rimouski Oceanic.
The top Canadian players of the QMJHL eligible to participate in the selection camp of the World Junior Championship (no 20-year-olds) will be chosen to play against the best Russian players in that age bracket.
