FARMINGTON – Becky Christiansen scored a goal and added an assist in the second half to propel the University of Maine at Farmington to a 2-0 field hockey win over Lasell College Sunday afternoon.

Christiansen’s game-winning goal came unassisted at 23:44 of the second half. She then fed Kristen Allen with 6:11 left in regulation to put the game out of reach.

Maine 3, UNH 1

ORONO – Amie Dubois took a pass from Joanna Fernandes off a corner and deposited into the back of the net to lift the University of Maine to a 3-1 win over the University of New Hampshire in field hockey play Sunday afternoon.

Shaunessy Saucier opened the scoring for the Black Bears (9-3) two minutes into the first half on a feed by Megan Connolly.

Middlebury 2, Bowdoin 1

BRUNSWICK – Middlebury senior captain Lauren Nicasio scored in overtime to lift the Panthers to a 2-1 win over Bowdoin College in field hockey play Sunday afternoon.

Husson 3, Elms 2

BANGOR – Karole Ann Emery scored an unassisted goal at 56:01 to propel Husson College to a 3-2 win over Elms College in field hockey play Sunday. Sarah Skinner, and Janel Ferron accounted for Husson’s two first-half goals.

Salve Regina 3, UNE 2

NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University goalie Brook Bowley turned in a 26-save performance as the Seahawks defeated University of New England, 3-2 with penalty strokes deciding the contest after two scoreless overtime periods.

The Nor’easters broke a scoreless tie in the second half when Lisa Baillargeon tallied. Salve Regina tied the score less than three minutes later on a goal by Whitney Bushee.

Men’s soccer

Bowdoin 1, Middlebury 0

BRUNSWICK – Andrew Russo converted a feed from Tom Bresnehan at 25:11 of the first half to give Bowdoin College the only goal needed to post a 1-0 win over Middlebury in men’s soccer action Sunday.

Bresnehan took the ball on the left side for a breakaway. The ball rebounded of the Panther keeper Craig Hirsch’s (5 saves) hands to the toe of Russo who buried it in the back of the net for the game-winner.

St. Joe’s 2, Green Mountain 0

STANDISH – Steve Jette and Shannon DeShield each scored a goal to lead St. Joseph’s College to a 2-0 win over Green Mountain College in men’s soccer action Sunday.

Jette scored the eventual game-winning goal at 10:59 of the first half, converting a pass from Kyler Hengst. DeShield added an insurance goal in the second half on an unassisted goal.

Women’s soccer

Bowdoin 1, Middlebury 1

BRUNSWICK- Bowdoin and Middlebury College women’s soccer teams played to a 1-all tie Sunday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half, the Polar Bears found the back of the net first as Ann Ziegler converted a pass from Katherine Whitley at 49:49. The Panthers answered at 72:33 as Erin Pittenger tallied an unassisted goal to set up the overtime stanza.

Binghamton 1, Maine 0

ORONO – Deli Plourde converted a pass from Kim Polvi late in the second half to lift Binghamton to a 1-0 win over the University of Maine in women’s soccer Sunday.

Elms 4, Maine Maritime

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College sophomore forward Jennifer LeDoux scored twice for the Blazers en route to a 4-2 victory over Maine Maritime in Sunday afternoon’s North Atlantic Conference women’s soccer game at Leary Field.

Maine Maritime started the scoring when sophomore midfielder Kristen Gaylord netted a goal in the 10th minute. However, Elms College quickly struck back when sophomore forward Chelsea Rose netted her third goal of the season on a cross from freshman forward Lauren O’Donnell in the 14th minute.
