MADISON – Mark Wade belted a grand slam in the top of the second inning, helping Monmouth to a 13-0 win over Madison in MVC baseball action Monday.
Wade’s hit was the only extra-base hit on the night for either team.
Brian Gardner went the distance for Monmouth, allowing two hits in five innings. Garner also added three singles to help the offense.
Livermore Falls 4,
Mt. Abram 3
SALEM – Livermore Falls pulled out a 4-3 win over MVC rival Mt. Abram on a walk and two sacrifices in the top of the seventh inning.
Adam Dyer had the only extra base hit of the game, drilling a double for the Roadrunners.
Levi Jones gained the mound win allowing four hits.
Mt. Blue 9, Waterville 8
WATERVILLE – Jason Tibbetts drilled a two-run blast over the left field fence to propel Mt. Blue to a 9-8 win over KVAC foe Waterville.
Ben Saviello and Chris Simpson each drilled a double for the Cougars. Tibbetts gained his third win of the season, striking out seven while surendering nine hits.
Ryan Lockard and Mike Denis each drilled a home run for the Panthers. Lockard took the loss for Waterville, allowing 12 hits.
Oxford Hills 3,
Skowhegan 1
SKOWHEGAN – Joe Baker’ ripped a first-inning double to drive in the first run and then scored the game-winner on a Chris Henderson single to lead Oxford Hills to a 3-1 win over Skowhegan in KVAC baseball action Monday afternoon.
Matt Diffin added a double for the Vikings (7-0) in the victory.
Garrett Olson went the distance, holding the Indians at bay until the bottom of the seventh inning when they pushed across a solo run to avoid the shutout.
Derrek Holt had a pair of doubles for Skowheghan.
Oak Hill 4, Rockland 3
WALES – Adam Labbe drove in an opportunistic Kyle Harrington in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Oak Hill to a 4-3 baseball win over Rockland Monday.
Harrington reached with two outs after getting hit by a pitch and stole second before Labbe singled him home. Mike Daggett retired the side in the seventh to preserve the win for the Raiders (6-0).
Labbe, starting pitcher Pat Duchette and catcher Kyle Lunn all collected multiple hits for Oak Hill, with Duchette smacking a triple.
Ben Dole started the game for Rockland and collected two hits of his own, including a double.
Lisbon 6, Mtn. Valley 5
LISBON – Jason McKay took a pitch to the body to drive in the winning run as Lisbon snapped up a 6-5 win over Mountain Valley in MVC baseball action Monday.
The Falcons (1-1) jumped out to a 4-0 start in the first inning. However, the Greyhounds (2-0) kept alive with a run in the third and a two more in the sixth inning to make it a 5-3 game hading into the last frame.
The Greyhounds strung together three singles, an error, a walk and McKay’s hit-batsman in the seventh to score John Teft for the win.
