ORONO (AP) – Maine goalie Ben Bishop has signed with his hometown St. Louis Blues and will forgo his senior season.
The university said Bishop, who was picked by the Blues in the third round of the 2005 NHL draft, signed with the team Tuesday night. He will play the remainder of the season with the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League.
Bishop, of Des Peres, Mo., finishes his college career with a record of 55-35-7, a 2.29 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage.
The University of Maine also announced Wednesday that Travis Ramsey, the Black Bears’ captain this past season, has signed an amateur tryout contract with the AHL Manitoba Moose, a Vancouver Canuks affiliate.
Ramsey, of Lakewood, Calif., scored four goals for Maine during the season. One of them was the overtime game winner against UMass-Lowell on Saturday.
