Tuesday evening a good number of the citizens of Lisbon and Lisbon Falls villages met at the Engine hall for the purpose of organizing a Lyceum. This is for the purpose of social intercourse and brushing up their wits by literary discussions during the winter. The benefit of the old fashioned Lyceum is well known and it is the purpose to revive this old custom for the betterment, enjoyment and entertainment of all.
50 years ago, 1959
Richard Rousseau, a 16-year-old Lewiston hunter, scored yesterday to make the current deer season the best in his experience. A resident of 15 Brule St., Richard was trying the upper Grove Street area toward the turnpike after school Tuesday afternoon when he spotted a doe. After downing the animal he discovered there were two bucks right nearby. A Sun-Journal carrier, Richard is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Amedee Rousseau.

“For sale” signs will be hung from the Lewiston Depot as soon as L&A Railroad Co. can develop a set of specifications to retain the depot’s historic nature if a developer buys it.
Located on Lincoln Street, the now unused depot is where hundreds of newcomers got their first look at Lewiston at the turn of the century when they came looking for jobs in the city’s booming textile mills.
