“The Goodbye Girls,” by Linda Britt, is the story of two sisters who reunite at their mother’s deathbed to say goodbye, and to resolve some unsettled issues between the two of them. The situation is very real and, therefore, sad, but there are also many moments of humor. Above, Cheryl Reynolds and Anna Cyr, who play the sisters, react to

by Mark Hazard. Completing the cast are Jackie McDonald as efficient Nurse Sharon and Michelle Washburn as the nurse’s aide. A staged reading of the play will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at The DownStage at L/A Arts, 5 Canal St. Alley, Lewiston. The reading is free and open to the public, although a $5 donation is suggested to defray expenses.
Audience members will have an opportunity to meet with the playwright and provide feedback after the play. “The Goodbye Girls” is the first in a Write Out of the Box Staged Reading Series presented by Out of the Box Theater. Playwrights are encouraged to submit original scripts to Out of the Box Theater Company, 39 Wellman St., Lewiston, 04240 for consideration for future readings.
