AUBURN — Paulette LaRoche died at Clover Manor on Monday, Feb. 5, following a prolonged illness.

She was born in Lewiston on April 4, 1937. She was the daughter of Omer and Irene Lambert LaRoche and the youngest of seven children.

Paulette attended Auburn schools and was a proud resident of New Auburn for all of her life.

She worked in area shoe shops, including Bel Moc and Falcon Shoe. She attended St. Louis Church, always sitting in the same pew at the 4 p.m. Mass on Saturday.

As a teenager, Paulette left school to lovingly care for her mother throughout a long illness. She was very proud to earn her GED several years later.

Paulette was a devoted aunt who dearly loved her many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She always sent birthday cards, holiday cards and letters to her many nieces and nephews who were away. Paulette looked forward to celebrating holidays and special occasions with her family.

Paulette enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: spending time with her family, Friday night shopping trips with June, playing Pokeno and watching her beloved Red Sox. She always had a faithful cat companion by her side. In her later years, she loved going to the New Auburn Seniors meetings and events. Although Paulette never had a driver’s license, she was a pro at driving the pontoon boat around Taylor Pond.

Paulette was surrounded by her loving family throughout her final journey. Although she had a rough exterior, her close family and friends know she had the biggest heart.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff at Clover and Androscoggin Homecare and Hospice for their loving care.

Paulette is survived by her brother, Roger LaRoche.

She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Yvette Ayotte and Henriette Howes; and her brothers, Paul, Lambert (Bullet) and Raymond.
