PORTLAND (AP) – Pierre Parenteau scored a goal and added an assist as the Portland Pirates beat the Springfield Falcons 3-1 on Friday.
Dustin Penner had an assist to extend his point-scoring streak to 11.
The Pirates (52-19-5-3) took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission after Ryan Shannon scored at 11:42 and Aaron Gavey made it 2-0 with four seconds on the clock.
The Falcons (28-42-3-6) scored their only goal when Nick Tarnasky connected on the power play at 2:54 of the second period, but Parenteau answered with 2:11 remaining in the frame.
Portland goalie Jani Hurme made 14 saves in the win.
