NEW YORK (AP) – Jaromir Jagr scored a pair of goals Sunday to lead the New York Rangers to a come-from-behind 4-2 victory over the Boston Bruins.

Jagr’s second goal of the game and preseason came on a power play at 18:09 of the third period when his wrist shot from the slot beat goaltender Tim Thomas. The goal gave New York a 4-2 lead.

Jagr also scored during a three-goal outburst in the second period that erased an early Bruins lead. Martin Rucinsky made it 2-1 with an unassisted power-play goal at 8:41, his first of the preseason.

Jagr tied the score at 2-2 with another power-play tally off a feed from Michael Nylander at 16:04. Martin Straka gave the Rangers a 3-2 lead with an unassisted goal just as the period was about to end, at 19:59. The goal was Straka’s first of the preseason.

Boston outshot New York 14-2 in the first period while taking a 2-0 lead. The Bruins went ahead 1-0 with a power-play goal from Jiri Slegr 6:26 into the game off assists from Tom Fitzgerald and Eric Healey. Patrice Bergeron added his first goal at 15:34 to put the Bruins ahead 2-0, beating goaltender Kevin Weekes for an unassisted score.

Weekes kept the Rangers in the game by stopping Zdenek Blatny on a penalty shot at 17:33 of the first period.

There were thousands of no-shows in the sparsely populated crowd, announced at 14,566, for the Rangers’ first preseason home game after the cancellation of the 2004-2005 season. Former Rangers defenseman Brian Leetch did not suit up for the Bruins.
