NEWRY — Selectman Jim Largess was re-elected to a three-year term at Monday’s annual elections. He received 65 votes to challenger Gary Drown’s 32.
Largess has served more than 10 non-consecutive years: first from 2003 to 2012 and from 2015 to 2018.
Drown has lived in Newry since 1999, according to a recent letter to the editor, and owns and operates Hideaway Rentals and Property Management, LLC. He is a member of the Newry Withdrawal Committee.
The annual town meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bear River Grange Hall. The warrant includes a proposed six-month moratorium ordinance to prohibit developing and/or operating retail marijuana establishments or retail marijuana social clubs.
