OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – Todd Jackson scored two goals for the second straight night to lead 13th-ranked Maine to a 6-2 victory over Wisconsin in the championship game of the Maverick Stampede tournament on Saturday.

Thirteen seconds after Tom Gilbert pulled Wisconsin within 2-1 early in the second period on a power play, Jackson scored a short-handed goal to restore the Black Bears’ two-goal lead.

Jackson scored again late in the period to give the Bears (2-0) a 5-2 advantage.

The senior left wing was named the tournament’s most valuable player.

Maine led 1-0 midway through the first period on Greg Moore’s goal.

The Bears had a two-goal lead going into intermission after Prestin Ryan hammered a shot from low in the left circle past Bernd Bruckler with four-tenths of a second showing on the clock.

Maine’s other goals were by Tom Zabkowicz and Dustin Penner.

Ken Rowe scored the only other goal for Wisconsin (1-1).

Maine goaltender Frank Doyle stopped 26 of 28 shots.
