Nicholas R. Gauvin has been promoted to the rank of captain in the U.S. Army. He was promoted while on leave status from an overseas deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His wife, Mary Gauvin, was present at his promotion ceremony to assist in bestowing the honors upon him in Alaska.
Gauvin is a forward area support team leader/logistics officer assigned to the 25th Brigade Support Battalion’s Stryker Brigade Combat Team at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. The captain has served in the military for five years.
He is the son of Randy and Ruth Gauvin of Farmington and brother of Miranda Gauvin of New Orleans, La. His wife, Mary, is formerly of Eddington. The captain graduated in 2002 from Mt. Blue High School, Farmington, and he received a bachelor’s degree in 2006 from the University of Maine in Orono.
