DALLAS (AP) – Dallas Stars forward Pierre Turgeon underwent successful surgery Monday on his injured ankle and is expected to be out four weeks.

Turgeon was injured when he was hit by a puck in practice March 8.

It was initially thought he had a bone bruise, but a re-evaluation Sunday showed a fracture.

Turgeon has 12 goals, 30 assists and 42 points in 65 games.

He has five game-winning goals.

The Stars also assigned goaltender Corey Hirsch to Utah of the AHL.

Hirsch appeared in two games for Dallas, going 0-1-0 with a 2.47 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage.

He was recalled from Utah on March 10.
