KINGFIELD – The seventh annual Kingfield POPS day is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, and will kick off the day-long events with the new Kingfield POPS Road Jam 10K Road Race and Kids Fun Walk, starting and ending at the Knapp Brothers showroom on Depot Street.

The Kingfield 10K is back. The Kingfield POPS board of directors has added the new event to their day-long music and arts activities to provide more fun for families across Maine.

The event will start with a Kids Fun Walk (one-miler) at 9 a.m., followed by the start of the 10K at 9:30. The course will take runners through the village of Kingfield and is rural, marked, measured and will feature water stations along the route. Fruit and drinks will be available after the race.

Preregistration fees (due by Monday, June 15, for guaranteed T-shirts) are $20 for the 10K and $15 for the kids. Awards will be given for the top three male and female winners of the Kids Fun Walk and 10K, and top two male and female winners in several age categories for the 10K.

The new addition to the day-long music and arts program is part of the Kingfield POPS fundraising efforts to continue the mission statement of providing enrichment for the community and area youth through exposure to music and arts events, education and performance opportunities.

There are several levels of sponsorship for the Kingfield POPS, with sponsors displayed on posters, flyers and the POPS Web site.

To sponsor or donate, to register to run in the race or to volunteer on race day, call Lorna Nichols, POPS executive administrator, at 778-4215 or e-mail [email protected]. Information is also available at www.kingfieldpops.com.
