LEWISTON – Lewiston schools will hold a lottery for the prekindergarten programs at Farwell, Geiger and Montello schools. It will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the Dingley Building, 36 Oak St.

The half-day prekindergarten programs will run Monday through Thursday, with 14 children in each session. Due to the limited number of spaces available, the school is unable to accommodate all of the children whose parents have expressed an interest in the program.

The Farwell program will include students from Farwell and Martel districts. The Montello program will include students from Montello and McMahon districts. Only Geiger students will attend the Geiger program.

A child will not be excluded if parents are unable to attend the lottery. To be eligible for the lottery a child must be 4 years of age between Oct. 16, 2008 and Oct. 15, 2009.

To register for the lottery or for more information, call 795-4105 or e-mail Pat Kordalski at [email protected] or Jeanie Giroux at [email protected].

Parents should include the child’s name, date of birth, address, phone number, parents’ or guardians’ names and child care address if applicable. Children will be selected based on the home or daycare address. Children not selected for the lottery will be placed on a wait list in the order in which their names are drawn in the lottery.

All parents will be contacted on Thursday, June 11. The prekindergarten registration for those whose children were drawn for the lottery will be held on Monday, June 15, at the Dingley Building.
