FARMINGTON – SugarWood Gallery welcomes KiKA Nigals of Industry as Artist of the Month for May at its Broadway Gallery.

Nigals has been creating art as long as she can remember. Raised by her musician grandfather and inspired by her artist father, she had a diverse experience growing up. Her passion for art started early preferring art history books to children’s books.

Encouraged by her high school art teacher and mentored by artists in college, she never settled into one medium but explored new avenues.

Nigals is at home working in mixed media, pastels, oil and color pencil. Her work is evolving and changing, but what stays constant is the use of bold colors. Her art has been described as full of joy, high energy, bold and fun.

An open house to introduce Nigals and her work will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 1, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 2. For more information, call the gallery at 778-9105.
