Open house
AUBURN – Danville Junction Grange will hold its annual open house on Thursday, April 23. Dessert will be served at 6 p.m. with the program starting at 7.
State Master Jim Owens will be present to award membership certificates to longtime members. Musical numbers will be performed by the Danville Singers and by local performer Kathy Haley.
A Community Citizen Award will be presented to a member of the community as well as a certificate of appreciation given to a member of the Grange. All are invited.
Grange program
MINOT – The West Minot Grange will have a business showcase from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the hall.
There will be a free lunch, including baked beans, casseroles and homemade doughnuts. There will be 30 local businesses, including massage, maple products, cabinet makers, wedding planners and wigs for cancer patients.
OES to meet
WALES – Lakeside Chapter 60, Order of the Eastern Star, will have a special meeting with guest officers on Wednesday, April 29, to initiate candidates.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at 322 Centre Road in the Grange/Masonic Hall. It will be preceded by a 6 p.m. “sandwich, salad and dessert” potluck supper.
A rehearsal for officers will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26.

Cancer program
LEWISTON – “Updates and Treatment Decisions about Lung Cancer” will be the topic of a free telephone education workshop to be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, sponsored by the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center.
The teleconference, offered by CancerCare Connect, will include current information about lung cancer, symptoms, pain management and treatment options.

Assembly day
AUGUSTA – Approximately 1,900 Jehovah’s Witnesses from Central Maine will gather for the annual Special Assembly Day on Sunday, April 26, at the Civic Center. The scriptural theme will be: “Keep Watching the Ministry … That You Fulfill It”: Colossians 4:17.
The visiting speaker will be Randall Turcot from the Patterson, N.Y., Educational Center of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The public is invited. Admission is free and no collections will be taken.
