FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Maine Forest Service and the Upper Kennebec Branch of Small Landowners Association of Maine are offering training on the use of the global positioning system for landowners and outdoor enthusiasts from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Feb. 25, in Farmington.
Registration deadline is Monday, Feb. 23.
The training will teach the basics of how GPS works, its uses for the logger and in-the-field training applications. The training will be led by Patty Cormier of the Maine Forest Service and a representative from Sandy River Outdoors.
The Maine Forest Service has 25 GPS units that participants will use for the training. Since everyone should have their own unit to use, the class is limited to 25. Cost of the training is $20.
