Historical society again selling wreaths
FARMINGTON – The Farmington Historical Society will sell wreaths at the Titcomb House on Saturdays, Nov. 29 and Dec. 6. The fundraiser supports the restoration of the North Church as the future Farmington History Center.
It will be the fourth annual holiday wreath sale sponsored by the society. The wreaths are made and decorated by society and community members. Decorations include a seven-loop red, brick red or burgundy bow, pine cones and red berries.
Each year, 300 wreaths are sold out.
Last year, with the help of a Community Development Block Grant, a new foundation, drainage and heating system were installed in the North Church.
This year, progress is being made to restore the 13-foot-high stenciled glass windows on the second level. Work still needing completion on the lower level is the installation of bathrooms and ramp, flooring and wainscoting.
Wreaths will be sold from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Titcomb House, 118 Academy St., on Nov. 29 and on Chester Greenwood Day Dec. 6. The cost is $20 and wreaths can be shipped in the continental U.S. for an additional $14. Pre-orders are also taken by calling Taffy Davis at 778-4275.
