WATERFORD – A computer tutorial will be offered at the Waterford Library Tuesday afternoons beginning Nov. 11 and continuing into December.

Instruction will be individualized and based on the needs and interests of each participant. Topics participants may wish to explore may include browsing the Internet, purchasing the most economic equipment to fit personal needs, e-mailing, using a digital camera, downloading and editing photos, safe Internet practices and word processing.

Participants must commit to at least two hours of practice each week. If interested, call the library at 583-2050 and leave a message.

No vet visit

PARIS – The veterans’ advocate will not be at the Maine Veteran’s Home in Paris on Wednesday, Nov. 5. His next visit will be Wednesday, Nov. 19, at his usual time of 9 a.m. to noon.

Church supper

PARIS – The Men’s Club of First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., Paris, will hold a roast pork supper with all the extras from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday in the church vestry. Admission is $8 adults and $5 for children under 12.

Supper will include roast pork, mashed potatoes, veggies, beverage and dessert. Proceeds will be given to the minister’s discretionary fund to help with heating fuel needs in the community. Those who cannot attend the supper but would like to make a donation may contact the church office at 743-237 or e-mail [email protected].

Food drive

WEST PARIS – The Forestdale School students will seek donations of canned foods from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7. Areas to be canvassed include West Paris and Bryant Pond villages, Andrews Road, Perkins Valley Road and Curtis Hill. All donations will be distributed by the Woodstock Food Pantry.

Antique appraisals

OXFORD – The Oxford Congregational Church will host an antique appraisal by Peter Cushman from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. He can appraise all kinds of items. Cost is $3 for one item, $10 for four items, $15 for seven items or $20 for 10 items.

Square dance

PARIS – The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will hold a dance from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Oxford Hills Middle School when Walter Lougee will be the guest caller and Carol Stewart will cue the round dancing.

Refreshments will be offered at intermission. Admission will be $6 a person. Nondancers are invited at no charge.

Snowmobilers

PARIS – The Paris Snow Hoppers Snowmobile Club will meet on Monday, Nov. 10, in the Culinary Arts Room, Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. A potluck supper will start at 6:30 p.m., with a business meeting to follow. For more information, call President Barry Kilgore at 743-8621.

OXFORD – The American Legion Riders, Anderson/Staples Post 112, will host a public breakfast on Saturdays, Nov. 8 and 22, from 6 to 10 a.m. at 169 King St.

Sacred concert

WOODSTOCK – The Woodstock Seventh-day Adventist Church, Perkins Valley Road, will have a sacred concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14. The special evening will be held by Mary Grace. A love offering will be taken for her.

4-H auction

PARIS – The Oxford County 4-H Leaders’ Association is sponsoring the annual 4-H Take-A-Chance auction on Friday, Dec. 5, at the Oxford Hills Middle School cafeteria. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and auction will start at 6:30.

Author to speak

WOODSTOCK – Local author Pat Gott will be the guest speaker at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Whitman Memorial Library. Gott has written six books.

She will talk about her two latest, “Cowgirl Days,” written for horse people ages 12 and up, and “Horse Tails by Shafta,” a story told through the eyes of the horse. The book has illustrations by local artist Debbie DeShon.

The free program is open to the public and light refreshments will be served.

Youth fishing

NORWAY – The Norway-Paris Fish and Game Association is asking those interested in encouraging youth fishing to support them in an effort to re-establish the youth fishing area next to the Aziscoos Valley Campground on the Magalloway River in Wilson’s Mills.
