AUBURN – Blues skies presided over the wrap-up concert of L/A Arts’ seventh annual Music in the Parks Summer Concert Series. The free noontime concerts occurred during July and August and featured eight diverse musical acts.
Truth About Daisies played to a crowd of 100+ on Aug. 28 on the “back lawn” of the Hilton Garden Inn, Auburn Riverwatch.
“We had a phenomenal concert series this summer,” said L/A Arts’ Music in the Parks Coordinator Tara Lagana. “We were fortunate to have exceptionally talented Maine acts such as the superb blues of the Pat Pepin Trio, the dynamic stylings of a cappella group SideCar Heroes and the ‘can’t-sit-still’ performance put on by local bluegrass masters the Jerks of Grass along with many others. Each week we were able to provide high quality music to the residents of Lewiston-Auburn at no charge. We have achieved something of which to be very proud.”
The Music in the Parks concert series was held in Fountain Park in Lewiston and at the Hilton Garden Inn Auburn Riverwatch, as well as at the rain location the Franco-American Heritage Center. It is estimated that more than 1,200 turned out for the series.
“It takes a group effort to make something like this happen,” said Cheri Donahue, L/A Arts marketing director. “We are truly grateful to the many businesses that supported these community concerts.”
