JAY – The Jay Historical Society will hold its annual open house from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Holmes-Crafts Homestead, Route 4, Jay Hill. The house and fire museum will be open for free tours.

Members are holding the open house in conjunction with the Jay Fire Department event being held on the historical society grounds featuring the Society for Preservation and Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America.

It is a nationwide organization, and this area organized its Pine Tree Chapter last year with its office in Wilton. The event is open to anyone who likes firefighters or who owns a fire vehicle or apparatus.

The historical society will feature Jay Schools and Riley Village. There will be a lawn sale, bake sale and sale of hot dogs and cold drinks. Proceeds will go toward a new building to house the archives, kitchenette, meeting room and a display area.

Items for the lawn sale would be welcome. To make arrangements for delivery or pickup, call Dot White, 897-4876.
