LEWISTON – Lots to Gardens will hold a worm bin composting workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at the Franklin Pasture Community Garden.

Participants will learn how to turn garbage into super-rich soil, compost in a small apartment and grow worms for fishing. Lots to Gardens staff and volunteers will show how to build and maintain a worm bin to take home at the end of the workshop.

Franklin Community Pasture is on the corner of Jefferson and Birch streets.

Sliding scale fee of $10 to $25 will cover costs of materials, free for those who just want to learn. Some scholarships are available. Contact Bridgette at Lots to Gardens at 513-3844 to sign up for the workshop.

St. Mary’s Lots to Gardens is growing food to change the community. It uses sustainable urban agriculture to create access to fresh food and to nurture healthy youth and a healthy community. Since 1999, the group has built 15 gardens and green spaces in four diverse neighborhoods.
