AUBURN — Faith Baptist Church, 43 Washington St. North, will celebrate Easter Sunday on April 1.

Sunday school will be held for all ages at 10 a.m. Pastor Jonathan Case will deliver the message, ”On Calvary’s Hill,” during the 11 a.m. worship service. The church choir will be conducted by Pastor Case.

The evening service will be at 6:30. The public is invited.

FARMINGTON — Henderson Memorial Baptist Church, 110 Academy St., invites the community to share in remembering the events of Holy Week.

Palm Sunday service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, March 25, with the choir singing “The Palms” and a message by the Rev. Dr. Susan Crane, “Love Poured Out.”

On March 29, a Maundy Thursday service of Communion and Tenebrae will be held at 7 p.m. All are invited to share in the Last Supper by receiving the bread and the cup Jesus shared with his disciples shortly before he was arrested.

The service will continue with scripture readings that tell the story of what happened in the hours following the Last Supper. As each part of the story is told, another candle is extinguished, symbolizing the death of the Light of the World.

On Sunday, April 1, there will be an ecumenical Easter sunrise service on Voter Hill at 6:22 a.m., led by area churches.

An Easter breakfast will be held at 8:30 a.m. by the Henderson Memorial Baptist and Summit Faith Churches in Fellowship Hall, 110 Academy St.

Henderson Memorial Baptists will worship at 9:30 a.m. and Summit Faith Easter service will begin at 10:40. All are welcome.

The church will present a puppet show, “EGGactly!,” at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31.

Children will learn about the true story of Easter. An egg hunt will follow for ages up to sixth grade.

FARMINGTON — Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministry will hold its Good Friday service at noon Friday, March 30, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 133 Middle St.

All are welcome. The service will focus on the Stations of the Cross.

FARMINGTON — Members from five Farmington area congregations will gather at 7 p.m. Friday, March 30, for a Good Friday Service at the Living Waters Church, 547 Wilton Road.

Everyone in surrounding communities is welcome to attend the special service of the Easter season.

INDUSTRY — The Maundy Thursday service on March 29 at Shorey Chapel, 1109 Industry Road, will begin at 6 p.m. with a Seder and potluck meal in the vestry. A service will follow in the sanctuary, including the reading of the Good Friday scripture.

Worship services for Palm Sunday, March 25 and Easter, April 1 will be at 10 a.m. All are welcome.

JAY — Jay Baptist Church will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 31, for people to place flowers in memory of loved ones for the Easter service Sunday, April 1.

The Palm Sunday service will start at 9:15 a.m. with prayer time, followed at 9:30 a.m. by breakfast in the vestry and the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Everyone is welcome.

Pastor Gary Bestwick’s message last Sunday was “Valuing God’s Son.” The choir sang “The Old Rugged Cross Made the Difference.”

LEWISTON — The public is invited to a Good Friday service featuring the string quartet version of Haydn’s “Seven Last Words of Our Savior on the Cross” at 7 p.m. Friday, March 30, at Trinity Church.

Fr. William Barter will officiate, with the music provided by the Vaillancourt-Boardman String Quartet, featuring Jessie and Greg Boardman, violins, Linda Vaillancourt, viola, and Madeleine Vaillancourt, cello.

The masterwork by Haydn, who considered it among his finest, was debuted at the cathedral in Cadiz, Spain, on Good Friday, 1786. Bookended by an introduction and a finale depicting the reported earthquake, the piece is made up of seven movements based on each of the seven utterances of Jesus made while hanging on the cross. During this service each phrase will be read in its turn and followed by the music composed by Haydn as a means of contemplation.

MECHANIC FALLS — The Anglican Church of the Transfiguration, formerly the Mechanic Falls Congregational Church, 64 Elm St., announces its Holy Week services.

The Tennebrae service will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday March 28. The Maundy Thursday service will also be at 6:30 p.m. March 29 and will include foot washing and the stripping of the altar.

Good Friday will be observed with Stations of the Cross at 6:30 p.m. March 30. The Easter Sunday communion service on April 1 will be celebrated at 10 a.m. The pipe organ will accompany the traditional hymns.

RUMFORD — An ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service will be held at 6:15 a.m. on Sunday, April 1, at Black Mountain.

It will be followed by breakfast at the Virgin Memorial Chapel.

WILTON — The East Wilton Union Church, 1306 Main St., will host an Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 31, open to the public. In the event of bad weather, the event will be held on April 7.
