TURNER – SAD 52 has announced two new summer academic science courses beginning Monday, July 14, to help students get ready for college or to recover a credit
Chemistry is a pre-college class that surveys the concepts of general chemistry. Topics will include states of matter, atomic structure, periodic table, bonding, nomenclature, chemical reactions, chemical equations and quantitative relationships. The laboratory will cover lab techniques and will be used to illustrate the principles taught in the course. Chemistry class will run from 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.
Physics is a pre-college course that emphasizes the basic principles of motion, statics, work and energy, fluid mechanics, sound and waves, thermal energy, electricity and magnetism. The labs are designed to reinforce material introduced in lecture. Physics class will run from noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Both classes will be held at Leavitt Area High School. Cost is $125 for district residents and $130 for out-of-district participants.
