LEWISTON – Planet Cheer All Star Cheerleaders ended their 2008 competitive cheering season with a world’s best champion title at the Final Destination World’s Best Cheering Competition held in Virginia Beach on May 3 and 4.

In order to compete, teams must earn a bid by placing in the top three at a number of qualifying events throughout the season. Planet Cheer earned first-place finishes for all the teams they entered to qualify.

The junior high school age senior prep level 3 team competed against nine other qualifying teams in their division. Their routine earned them a first-place finish, crowning them world’s best champions. The team brought home a banner and trophy and each member was awarded medals and world’s best champion jackets.

Despite a change in roster due to illness just two practices before Final Destination, Planet Cheer’s youth team competed against 23 teams and finished 12th.

The high school aged senior prep level 4 team competed against six other large and small teams and took home a third-place finish, beating out all other small level 4 teams in the division.
