LEWISTON – The Lewiston Youth Advisory Council has announced that its U Booze U Looze underage drinking awareness film, titled “SMASHED,” is now available for purchase online.

The council has received numerous inquiries about the film and has worked with Via-Vision Film and Video Productions of Lewiston to establish the ordering site: www.smashedvideo.com.

Via-Vision had professionally filmed the project due to a grant the council received from the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety. Since then, mass production of the film has been made possible through a donation from the Towing and Recovery Association of Maine.

Through the online order site, interested parties may purchase the DVD along with an educator’s guide or may purchase only the DVD.

“SMASHED” opened last fall at Auburn Flagship Cinema to a standing-room-only crowd and has also been shown at the Lewiston Public Library. In addition, the film has been approved by the state for use as part of driver’s education curriculum statewide.

Proceeds from the sale of “SMASHED” will be used for the council’s current and future projects/initiatives.
