HEBRON – The Hebron Historical Society introduced its recent publication, “Western Maine Sanatorium Revisited 1901-1959,” and held a program on the history of the former institution in the town of Hebron recently.
Approximately 60 people attended the event, many having connections to the “San” as children, as relatives of patients or workers or as neighbors.
The audience shared many stories and experiences of life there.
The program was led by Ben Conant and Douglas Cooper, who were instrumental in completion of the book.
The society will next present a program on the Buckfield Branch Railroad, its formation and demise, with Richard Bedford as the speaker, at the Tuesday, May 27, meeting to be held at 7 p.m. at the Hebron Town Office. The public is invited.
