Grange supper
EAST BETHEL – A public supper will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Alder River Grange. The menu will include baked beans, macaroni and cheese, salads and strawberry shortcake. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children under 13.
Park clean-up
NORWAY – The Norway Recreation Department will hold the annual community spring clean-up at Lake Pennesseewassee Park from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 17. The work will consist of raking the public boat landing area and beaches and working on the new fitness trail.
Lake Pennesseewassee Park is open to the public regardless of their residence. Bring gloves and rakes.
Those fulfilling community service requirements should bring their paperwork and check in with Norway Parks and Recreation Deb Partridge after arrival.
Sunday walk
PARIS – A Walk For Breast Cancer will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 18, at Gouin Complex, Alpine Street. The entry fee is $7. All proceeds will benefit the breast cancer organization. For more information, contact Kami Mariois at 890-1235.
Rummage sale
PARIS -The Youth Ministry of St. Catherine’s Church will hold a rummage sale from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 24, in the parish hall at 32 Paris St. There will be clothing and white elephant items. The proceeds will be used for retreats and charities for young people.
Sunday service
PARIS – The first Sunday after Pentecost will be noted Sunday, May 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road, South Paris. Adult school and Sunday school for children will begin at 9 a.m. Worship will start at 10:15 followed by coffee, refreshments and fellowship. All are welcome.
Bottle drive
OTISFIELD – Otisfield Community School sixth-graders will hold a Bottles for Boston drive and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Otisfield Town Office, Route 121.
The students need to raise funds to pay for the annual trip to Boston bus. Once the bus is paid for, any extra will go toward reducing individual student costs for admission fees and dinner. There will be collection bins at the Otisfield Transfer Station through early June.
Heritage luncheon
OXFORD – The Maine Heritage Policy Center will host a Maine Prosperity Luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at the Oxford Fairgrounds Expo 1.
It will feature Tarren Bragdon, chief executive officer of the Maine Heritage Policy Center. His presentation is titled: “Taxes, TABOR and Dirigo: Why Augusta Just Doesn’t Get It.”

Kids’ tea party
HARTFORD – A Loving Hearts Tea Party will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Hartford Town Hall. Cost will be $3 a person.
There will be a tea party, silent auction, special storybook reading and junior choir performance.
Call for reservations at 224-7355. The event is being sponsored by the Hartford Community Church.
