Tres Dias supper

DIXFIELD – A Tres Dias gathering will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, April 11, at the Congregational Church, High Street. A potluck supper will be held. For more information, call 364-8083.

Church supper

MEXICO – There will be a roast pork public supper at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Mexico UCC (Green Church). Cost is $7 adults, $3 children under 12.

Elks to install

RUMFORD – Rumford Lodge of Elks 862 will hold installation of officers on Sunday, April 13, at the lodge. A brunch will be served at 10 a.m. followed by the installation. RSVP to the lodge at 364-4022.

Quilters meeting

RUMFORD – Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, at the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street. All area quilters are invited.

Members should bring a 12-inch finished square made in spring colors to participate in the square drawing. “Quilt as You Go Swap Bags” may be brought for exchange or showing. For more information, call 562-7050.

Seniors dinner

DIXFIELD – Neighborly Senior Citizens will meet on Wednesday, April 16, at the Dixfield Legion Hall. The meeting will start at 11 a.m., followed by a free roast pork dinner for members whose dues have been paid for 2008.

New members are welcome and may join on that date. Dues are $5 a year. The meal is being furnished by Swasey-Torrey Post 100. Entertainment will be by the Crosbys. Anyone wishing to sign up for trips may do so by calling Connie at 364-4189.

Riders to meet

ANDOVER – The Ellis River Riders will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, April 14, at the Andover Fire Station, Main Street. The Show Committee will meet at 6 p.m. All members are invited.

Beekeepers meeting

PARIS – The Western Maine Beekeepers Association will present a slide show and talk by State Apiarist Tony Jadczak on honey bee pests, diseases and medications. The presentation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the First Baptist Church on Paris Hill.

Beekeepers need to be aware of current treatment methods and medications to ensure the survival of their honey bees.

Society talk

RUMFORD – The Rumford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the Municipal Building auditorium, Congress Street.

Speaker will be Librarian Karl Aromaa, who will tell of the ways the library is preserving history through saving copies of the Rumford Fall Times. He will also speak a little about the ways libraries have preserved history.

President Len Greaney will lead the meeting, including giving an update about choosing a high school student to receive a historical society scholarship this year.

Applicants will write an essay concerning the ways local history has affected their life.
