Movie night

MEXICO – Community members of all ages are invited to a movie night at Meroby Elementary School on Friday, March 28, when the “The Cat in the Hat!” will be shown on the big screen.

There will be face painting from 5:30 to 6 p.m., with the movie running from 6 to 8. People are invited to bring a pillow or something comfy to sit on to watch the show. Popcorn, drinks and homemade snacks will be available for a small fee.

Students are encouraged to dress up as the “Cat” or a “Thing,” with the best costume winning free food. Costumes will be judged just prior to the movie being shown. Cost is $2 a person, all ages.

The event is sponsored by the Dorr Belles, a group of Mountain Valley Middle School students who have formed a Relay for Life team in honor of the their teacher, Mr. Dorr. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Respite training

BETHEL – “Volunteer Respite Training: For Friends and Neighbors of People with Dementia,” a free education program, will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 2 and 9, at the West Parish Congregational Church, Church Street.

It is being sponsored by Western Mountains Senior College, SAD 44/Community Education, Bethel Family Health Center, Wayne DuPlessis and Maine Alzheimer’s Association. For more information, call 824-2053.

Workshop change

BETHEL – “Understanding Dementia: A Workshop for Families and Friends,” Part 2, was postponed from Wednesday, March 19, to Wednesday, March 26, and will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the West Parish Congregational Church, Church Street. For more information, call 824-2053.
