BETHEL – Dr. David Murphy, chairman of the Bethel Historical Society’s Education Committee, has announced that the society will again offer a history internship to a qualified Bethel area high school student between age 14 and 18.
Applicants should possess a strong interest in learning about local and regional history and be highly motivated, honest and reliable. The society’s Education Committee will review all applications and make a nomination to the executive director for appointment.
Applications should be received at the society office by May 16. A decision by the Education Committee will be made by June 13 and announcement will be made by the executive director.
The internship will begin on July 1 and extend to the last week in August. A stipend of $1,000, in two installments, will be paid to the successful applicant, who may be involved in museum tours, special events, collection management, oral history and exhibit preparation.

The student internship is among several offerings of the Bethel Historical Society in educational activities, which include history courses, lectures, conferences, university internships, school programs, exhibits and special events.
