Shonn C. Breton graduated from the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base, Knoxville, Tenn., and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air National Guard.

The six-week, in-resident course curriculum is designed to prepare the officer candidate for initial assignment as a commissioned officer and to serve as a foundation to build a career in the Air Force reserve components.

The major subject areas of instruction included military studies, physical training, academic studies, professional development, communicative skills, leadership and management, international security and defense studies.

After graduation, the lieutenant either attends further career development training or returns to his or her resident state unit of assignment.

Breton, an air battle manager, is a member of the 103rd Air Control Squadron, Connecticut Air National Guard based in Orange. The guardsman has served in the military for 19 years.

Breton is the son of Carol L. Breton of South Paris, and his wife, Nicole, is the daughter of Colette R. Hubner of Neenah, Wis. The lieutenant graduated in 1986 from Oxford Hills High School, Paris, and received a bachelor’s degree in 2000 from Lakeland College, Sheboygan, Wis.
