AUBURN – The Edward Little Music Association will hold a spaghetti supper and silent auction from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave. The cost is $5 a person and children under 5 are free. Special guest Auburn Mayor John Jenkins will be on hand to support the event.
It is one of many fundraising events the association holds throughout the year. Proceeds from the supper and auction will support the music programs at the middle school and high school.
“The Edward Little High School music program is an important force in Auburn’s community,” said Fine Arts Department Head and Band Director Jennifer Fortin. “We perform at many civic events and support such community members as the veterans of the Twin Cities as well as numerous others. As a part of the music program, we educate the total student and plan various trips and activities that teach the students organizational skills, money skills and responsibility for oneself and others.”
“Fundraisers like our upcoming spaghetti supper not only help to support our program, but also teach students to work for a cause as well as for themselves, to better themselves,” said Fortin.
“This outside fundraising is necessary due budget cuts and restraints on our programs. Without this fundraising we would not have been able to purchase our new band uniforms. We are currently saving funds to purchase choral risers with safety rails and backs. We are unable to do this with our current school budget,” she said.
Auction items may include gift certificates, gift cards and baskets, greens fees, savings bonds and a do-it-yourself brick patio kit.
Those attending will be entertained by small student ensembles of instrumental and vocal musicians throughout the evening. Auction items will be on display and typical silent auction procedures will be the rule.
