LEWISTON – The “Voices” lecture series event featuring the film “Roughing the Uppers, The Great Shoe Strike of 1937,” which was postponed due to inclement weather, has been rescheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Bates College.
The venue has been moved to room 204 of the Carnegie Science Hall, 44 Campus Ave.
Produced in 1992 by the late Bates Professor Robert Branham, the film documents the Lewiston-Auburn shoe strike of 1937 through interviews with local historians and residents who lived through the events.
Light refreshments will be available. There is no admission fee for the program and parking is available in lots near the corners of Nicholas Street and Campus Avenue, Franklin Street and Campus Avenue, and on nearby city streets.
The event is being made possible through the cooperation and support of the Harward Center for Community Partnerships, Bates College.
