Church speaker

PARIS – The First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris, will feature Silver Moore-Leamon as the speaker on Sunday, Feb. 24. It is the last week to bring items for the Oxford Hills Food Pantry drive.

Music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins, and Renee Wales, flutist, will accompany the choir and congregation. Alan DeSilver, guitarist, will be the guest soloist.

Sunday school will be under the direction of Renee Wales and childcare is available. Fellowship and coffee will follow the worship service. There will also be a Chinese auction sponsored by Good Cheer during the fellowship. All are welcome.

Book kick-off

PARIS – A kick-off celebration for the fourth annual Oxford Hills One Book One Community will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Forum. Author Kate Braestrup will discuss her book, “Here If You Need Me,” chosen for the community program.

Attendees will be able to purchase a copy, sign up for programs in March, hear about the African Library project and have refreshments. Snowdate is Tuesday, March 4.

African project

PARIS – The One Book One Community program has chosen to “Make a Difference” by joining with the African Library Project to build a new library in Botswana. During March the planning committee is seeking community members to collect and donate 1,000 books for the Mabule Primary School in Botswana.

More information will be available at the One Book One Community kick-off at 7 p.m. Monday, March 3, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. The public is welcome.

There will be a wrap-up event on Monday, March 31, to sort and pack the books and the public is welcome. There will be a video about the project as well African foods.

Bridge results

NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Feb. 15 in the Fare Share Common, Main Street, when a three-table Howell movement was played.

Finishing first in Flight A were Pete Cummings and Dick Allen; second, Marj Street and Les Buzzell; first in Flight B, Barbara Beegel and Jim Dickens; second, Suzanne Andrews and Carol Curran.

There will be another game at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22. All bridge players are invited.
