Writers meeting

OXFORD – The Oxford Writers and Storytellers will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the Oxford Community Center, King Street. Anyone from high school age and older may attend and read their own short story or poetry or sit and listen.

Church history

WATERFORD – The Rev. Anita White will present a four-part program on the history of the early church, the splits and controversies along the way, at the Waterford Congregational Church. Explored will be the social, political and theological reasons behind the splits. Discussions will follow the presentations.

The programs will be held at the Wilkins Community House on Plummer Hill Road next door to the church at 7 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 20 and 27, and March 5 and 12.

Penny carnival

HARRISON – A penny carnival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church. There will be games, crafts and food.

Seniors session

OXFORD – The Lake Thompson Senior Citizens will meet, weather permitting, on Thursday, Feb. 21, at Market Square Restaurant, Paris. Dinner will be chosen from the menu. Each member is asked to bring an item for a silent auction. All are welcome.

Society to meet

GORHAM, N.H. – The Gorham Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Gorham Congregational Church, corner Main and Church streets. All are welcome. It is handicapped accessible. For more information, call 603-466-9491.

Benefit supper

WATERFORD – A benefit potluck supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the North Waterford Church, 5 Kezar Road. Cost is $7 for adults; $3 for ages 5 to 12; under age 5, free.

Church service

PARIS – Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road, Paris, will celebrate the third Sunday in Lent on Feb. 24. Sunday school and adult study, “Making the Old Story Our Story,” begin at 9 a.m. and worship at 10:15 a.m. followed by coffee, refreshments and fellowship.
