TURNER – Bringing a community of readers together is the purpose of the “I Love This Book” program running through January and February at the Turner Public Library. The program features books left in a display at the library by readers who enjoyed them.

“The especially nice thing about this program,” said Librarian Vicki Varney, “is that we connect our community of readers by giving them a chance to share and connect right in the town library. Just as we want readers to find a book recommended by another reader, we hope most will leave a book they enjoyed with a note for the next reader.”

Varney said, “The best part of my day is when a patron asks me for a good book to read. All readers like to make and receive suggestions for a good read. This program gives readers the chance to connect with others of similar interests and find a good book for a blustery winter evening.”

If past years are any indication, readers will find a host of old and new fiction and nonfiction, as well as books on crafts, gardening and cooking.

The books are in a display in the library, each with a note from someone who enjoyed them.

“Come visit us with a book you enjoyed; we’re sure you will find another one a reader recommends that will be just for you,” Varney said.

This year the “I Love This Book” program will run through January and February. Regular library hours at the facility in the historic Leavitt Institute Building at 98 Matthews Way in Turner Center are noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday. The building has an elevator and is handicapped accessible.
