Quilters to meet

RUMFORD – Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street. All area quilters are invited.

Wrap a Smile and Quilts for Newborns are accepted at any meeting. Washcloths, empty thread spools and canceled stamps are being collected by members for various projects.

RUMFORD – A Tres Dias gathering will be a potluck supper at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at the Methodist Church, Linnell Street.

Snowmobilers

DIXFIELD -The Poodunck Snowmobile Club will meet on Monday, Jan. 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the Webb River Valley Sportsmen’s Clubhouse, Canton Point.

A dance will be on Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Eagles, and tickets will be available at the meeting or by seeing Dave Berry. Members should take raffle tickets to the meeting or turn them in to Jon Holmes before Jan. 19, as the drawing is the night of the dance.

The blessing of the sleds will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, with the blessing at noon at the Mt. Valley Middle School, Harlow Hill. For more information, call Nick Brown at 364-8665.

Lions Club to meet

MEXICO – A Lions Club Texas Hold’em Tournament will be held Sunday, Jan. 13, at Recreation Drive. Preregistration is available for a $5 non-refundable deposit at Roland’s Automotive, River Road, and Maddy’s Pizza, Main Street. Registration will be at 10 a.m., game at 10:30 a.m. Entry fee is $80 and it is limited to 60 people, 18 years or older.

DIXFIELD – Sons of the American Legion cribbage tournament will be held Sunday, Jan. 13. Dinner will be at 11 a.m. and cribbage at noon. The menu is beef stew.

Club bean supper

RUMFORD – A Snowshoe Club baked beans supper and dance will be held Friday, Jan. 18, serving from 5 to 6:15 p.m. There will be baked beans, hot dogs, coleslaw, bread, American chop suey, dessert, coffee and punch for $5 for adults and $3 for children. Proceeds will benefit the club athletes. Music will be by Fitz Band for the dance from 7 to 11 p.m.
