Meeting change
LISBON – VFW Post 9459, Route 196, will hold its monthly meetings on the third Saturday of each month. At 11 a.m. members will hold the monthly post clean-up followed at noon by the House Committee meeting. The regular meeting will start at 12:30 p.m.
All members are encouraged to attend and new members are welcome. The post changed the meeting day and time to accommodate those who cannot drive at night and those who work during the week.
The new operating hours have changed as well. The post is open Thursday and Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 7 p.m. and will remain open later if business warrants. For more information stop by the post or call 353-4879.
Send boxes
LISBON FALLS – Nelson-Conley Post 66, American Legion, recently sent eight large boxes of individual gifts to two platoons and one squad engaged in the Middle East conflict.
Each group had at least one connection to Lisbon because of the grandsons of post members Leonard Lidback, Forrest Jordan Sr. and Vito Ancona. More than $1,000 was donated to the cause, all but $60 by post members.
In addition, a box of baked goods by post families and DVD movies was sent to each group. This was the fourth year Post 66 has done the project.
