AUBURN – Music will be in the air when visitors attend the “Christmas Wonderland” holiday open house on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7, 8 and 9, at the Woman’s Literary Union Clubhouse, 19 Elm St.

Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. all three days, and new this year will be extended hours from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Evelyn Larrabee, WLU president, is chairwoman of the event. The WLU clubhouse is the former Foss mansion designed in the federal style. All rooms will be open to the public and decorated in a holiday motif.

“Sweet Victorian” is the theme chosen by Tonie Ramsey in the large main room as well as her “Take-Along Gift Baskets.” The grand staircase and foyer with garlands has an “English Noel” theme selected by Melanie Ness.

“Victorian Rhapsody” will fill the dining room in shades of purple and lavender with silver accents done by Evelyn Larrabee and Jeanne Pacheco.

As visitors ascend the grand staircase to the second floor, they will be dazzled by a “White Winterland” display of white poinsettias, tree and lights by Marilyn Wilkinson and Cathy Westleigh.

Cheryl Perrino has chosen a “Christmas Morn” theme in one of the two bedrooms. The second bedroom will feature “Nutcracker Holiday” by Amey Feeley and the After Dark Club of WLU.

Music will waft through the mansion each afternoon. Friday from 1 to 2 p.m., Phil House will be at the grand piano with Christmas music. Saturday from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m., Mitchell Clyde Thomas on the piano will be accompanied by carolers in Victorian dress. Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m., harpists Melanie Lee and Betsy Kopyz will perform.
