POLAND — Regional School Unit 16 directors accepted Superintendent Tina Meserve’s resignation Monday night.
“The board is sad to see you go,” Chairwoman Mary Martin said, adding the district is in a better place than when Meserve took the helm in 2013.
Meserve was recently named to head RSU 9 in Farmington and will begin there July 1.
Martin said Meserve, of Livermore, has committed to making a smooth transition for her successor.
The school board approved a 2018-19 budget of $22.2 million, which will be presented at a hearing April 25.
The budget is $743,000, or a 3.46 percent, more than this fiscal year, which ends June 30.
Meserve said the increase is mostly attributed to teacher salary increases, rising costs of special education and fewer federal dollars.
If the budget is adopted, it would increase property taxes on a house assessed at $100,000 by about $87 in Mechanic Falls, $94 in Minot and $60 in Poland.
In other business, Poland Regional High School Principal Cari Medd announced the humanities course, which combines social studies and literature, will be split into two courses in the fall.
