AUBURN – A nationally known author, speaker and breast cancer survivor will be the keynote speaker at a presentation set for Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Hilton Garden Inn.
Kathy LaTour, author of “The Breast Cancer Companion” and founder of “Cure: Cancer, Updates, Research and Education,” a quarterly magazine for cancer patients, will present her one-woman show, “One Mutant Cell,” beginning at 6:30 p.m.
After being diagnosed with invasive breast cancer at the age of 37, LaTour underwent a modified radical mastectomy and chemotherapy. She later wrote “The Breast Cancer Companion,” an informational resource for cancer patients.
LaTour has been featured on NBC’s Today Show and the CBS Evening News. She has authored more than 50 published articles about cancer survivorship. She won a 2002 Katie Award for her work as consulting senior editor of CURE, a national magazine for the cancer patient.
Her newest presentation, “One Mutant Cell,” chronicles her journey through cancer with stories of humor and emotion.
LaTour has been active in cancer support activities in the Dallas area for more than 20 years and served on the governing board of the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship.
