Fortier Chapter
LEWISTON – The Dr. Paul Fortier Chapter 52, Association Canado-Americaine, will gather at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, in the Senior Citizens Room of the Multi-Purpose Center.
Following the business meeting, members will have refreshments. More information on the meeting or the ACA in general is available by contacting Chapter President Jeanne Poulin at 783-0635.
For next month, the chapter will return to their usual first-Monday meeting date, convening on Nov. 5.
Rebekah meeting
AUBURN – Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at the grand lodge office meeting room at 80 Caron Lane. Snacks will be provided by Mercena Abrams.
The Quilt Committee will show the almost-completed quilt that is being made to raffle off to benefit the work of the lodge. At 7 p.m. the newly installed officers will take their places for the business meeting.
Doreen Locke, new past noble grand, will preside in the absence of Noble Grand Diane Treacy, who is on vacation. A report of the sales of the new Maine Rebekahs cookbook, a project of the Rebekah Assembly of Maine, will be given. A delegate and alternate will be named to attend the Rebekah Assembly for the session on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 18 and 19, at the Black Bear Inn in Orono.
Jenkins
AARP speaker
LEWISTON – The Androscoggin Chapter, AARP, will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street. The speaker will be Auburn Mayor John Jenkins.
He will discuss “Getting Fit and Remaining Fit.” Jenkins was previously Lewiston’s mayor and a state senator. He is a Bates College graduate and is an inspirational speaker. Refreshments will be served.
Club speaker
AUBURN – Phyllis Jensen will present “The People You Meet at Bates College” on Tuesday, Oct. 16, for the After Dark Club. LEWISTON – “Look Good … Feel Better,” the American Cancer Society’s program for assisting women who are faced with appearance changes resulting from cancer treatment, will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Central Maine Medical Center’s Sam and Jennie Bennett Breast Care Center, 12 High Street, Suite 103.

OES visitation
LISBON FALLS – Pioneer Chapter 11, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Ancient York Masonic Hall, Route 196. Worthy Grand Matron Rebecca S. Bibber will conduct official visitation.
The service to a growing community project this month is the Maine Children’s Cancer Foundation. Members will bring pumpkins to donate for the Parade of Jack-O-Lanterns. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. All members of the order are invited.
Bridge play
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Oct. 9 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Martine Begert and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, David Lock and Jim Flanagan; third, Claire Lyons and Nancy Farmer; fourth, Richard Balian and Peter Cummings. Flight B winners were: first, Claire Lyons and Nancy Farmer; second, Richard Balian and Peter Cummings.
A club appreciation game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the center.
The club also met on Oct. 10 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners were: first, John Hackett and Leslie Buzzell; second, Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin; third, Mike and Patricia Quinn.
